Simple one-layer card and a giveaway!

Happy Friday!  Thank you for all the comments on the embellished tee I posted yesterday.  I always cherish your comments!

This month marks my first blog-iversary!  Yay!

To celebrate, let's have awesome giveaway!  You'll have to read on to find out, though, what it is... :)  First, I have a simple, one-layer card to show you:

See what an impact even one piece of cardstock can make?  All I did was take a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, and folded it to make a 3" x 3" card.  I then inked up a clear block with River Rock Classic ink, then stamped off on scratch paper before stamping on my cardstock.  Then I just stamped various images from the French Foliage stamp set, and tied a piece of Linen Thread around the top.  Very easy to do, and you could definitely increase the size of the card to make a standard-sized 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card.

Simple Fall card supplies:
Stamps:  French Foliage
Ink:  River Rock, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso
Paper:  Very Vanilla cardstock
Accessories/Tools:  Linen Thread

Ok, I made you wait long enough!  :)

Drumroll, please...

Here's something that is fabulous for if you want to get into making cards, and you don't know where to start. This kit has everything you need to make 10 cards, 5 of each style you see on the front of the instruction booklet there.  You could also just go your own way of course, and just use the materials on whatever you'd like!  There are no rules in creativity!

Included in the kit:
Sending Happy Thoughts stamp set (set of 6)
Old Olive Classic Stampin' Spot
Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin’ Spot
Real Red Classic Stampin’ Spot
Zig Zag Twill Tape
Pewter Brads
2-Way Glue Pen
Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter
Stampin’ Dimensionals
Mini Glue Dots®

There are rules, however, in the giveaway. ;)  Please leave a comment telling me what fun plans you have this weekend (even if it's just relaxing!) before 11:59 PM EST Sunday, October 31st, and I will pick a random winner on Monday morning.  Unfortunately, I can only do this in the U.S... sorry!  Be sure to check back, because the winner will have to email me to claim their prize!  :)

Good luck!!  And thanks for stopping by!

  1. Oh, Melissa, please randomly draw me!! I love your blog! You are a very talented crafter and I enjoy learning how to improve my cards & pages with your work. All those details make them so much better. TFS your artwork with us. Elizabeth K

  2. Oops! Forgot to tell you that I will be traveling to Louisiana (from Texas) to spend time with my Mom, Dad, 9 siblings & their families. My big bro turns the big 50! EK

  3. Wow! Love this one layer card, Melissa. How you do it is beyond me!! You just make it look so easy to create these beauties!!! Love it!

This weekend, we plan to do everything on the spur of the moment. No plans. Having the freedom from retirement to run during others' working hours, we tend to be more home-bound on the weekend when everyone else is out. Places aren't so busy during the week and it is more fun.

Who knows, maybe I will finally get to scrapping again. I get it out and stare at it. NO MOJO!!!

  4. Barb - I'm sending you some mojo vibes! Can you feel 'em? LOL

Melissa - your "simple" card is anything but! You make it look so effortless. You're just a gem of a talent.

Our plans are to go about an hr's drive north of the city to Sleepy Hollow. Yes, the one and only spooky town in which Ichabod Crane became the Headless Horseman. Ooooohhh, spoooooky!!! They also have a "garden" of over 4,000 carved pumpkins up there that we will walk through followed by a bbq dinner at a friend's house overlooking the beautiful Hudson River.

    Have fun trick-o-treaters!

  5. I am not sure it will be a fun weekend. I am working at a fundraiser at church both Saturday and Sunday. I hope to see my new granddaughter (5 wks) so that will be fun.

I enjoy your blog and the tee looks great.

  6. I've recently come across your blog and have it bookmarked for inspiration! I love your style! Plan to finalize the kids' costumes and work on shredding the numerous leaves in the yard for our compost pile, followed by trick-or-treating. Have a great weekend!

  7. How sweet of you to do a giveaway !! I love your one layer card...i may have to give that a plans include for the future holidays...and spending a bit of time with my 3 year old....thats about it....have a safe Weekend !!!

  8. I love your cards - so clean and simple! I am cleaning, having friends over for lunch, then off to a Halloween party Sat night - and then RELAXing on Sunday! Blessings to you this weekend - and again, I just love your card designs.

  9. Hi Melissa---I love your blog! You are in inspiration to me. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome card set. I have yet to try these from SU. Our weekend plans include having our godchildren over to trick or treat in our neighborhood and we always order pizza and have the pumpkin cut out cookies that they helped to decorate. Thanks again! Karen (

  10. What a great little card! I plan to try it this weekend! We already
did one our high school marching band compete against 31 other bands and they won..1st place!!! Next I plan to go to church and announce the 4 lucky little winners of our pumpkin carving contest! Then I am gong to start my Christmas cards! Yea!

  11. Simple or not - your cards always amaze me! Love this one bunches.

This weekend has been busier than most. I ran errands all day yesterday, attended a mountain bike race today, and I'm waiting on the little tricksters to arrive for their treats in just minutes.

Your give-aways looks fantastic - hope I win!

  12. My plans for this weekend will to hopefully be recuperating from Gerd surgery. I have been sick for over 5 weeks with this :0( Hopefully this will fix the problem.

I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.. it makes my day!
