Simple one-layer card and a giveaway!

Happy Friday!  Thank you for all the comments on the embellished tee I posted yesterday.  I always cherish your comments!

This month marks my first blog-iversary!  Yay!

To celebrate, let's have awesome giveaway!  You'll have to read on to find out, though, what it is... :)  First, I have a simple, one-layer card to show you:

See what an impact even one piece of cardstock can make?  All I did was take a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, and folded it to make a 3" x 3" card.  I then inked up a clear block with River Rock Classic ink, then stamped off on scratch paper before stamping on my cardstock.  Then I just stamped various images from the French Foliage stamp set, and tied a piece of Linen Thread around the top.  Very easy to do, and you could definitely increase the size of the card to make a standard-sized 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card.

Simple Fall card supplies:
Stamps:  French Foliage
Ink:  River Rock, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso
Paper:  Very Vanilla cardstock
Accessories/Tools:  Linen Thread

Ok, I made you wait long enough!  :)

Drumroll, please...

Here's something that is fabulous for if you want to get into making cards, and you don't know where to start. This kit has everything you need to make 10 cards, 5 of each style you see on the front of the instruction booklet there.  You could also just go your own way of course, and just use the materials on whatever you'd like!  There are no rules in creativity!

Included in the kit:
Sending Happy Thoughts stamp set (set of 6)
Old Olive Classic Stampin' Spot
Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin’ Spot
Real Red Classic Stampin’ Spot
Zig Zag Twill Tape
Pewter Brads
2-Way Glue Pen
Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter
Stampin’ Dimensionals
Mini Glue Dots®
Card Stock Assortment
12 Very Vanilla Envelopes

There are rules, however, in the giveaway. ;)  Please leave a comment telling me what fun plans you have this weekend (even if it's just relaxing!) before 11:59 PM EST Sunday, October 31st, and I will pick a random winner on Monday morning.  Unfortunately, I can only do this in the U.S... sorry!  Be sure to check back, because the winner will have to email me to claim their prize!  :)

Good luck!!  And thanks for stopping by!

  3. Wow! Love this one layer card, Melissa. How you do it is beyond me!! You just make it look so easy to create these beauties!!! Love it!

This weekend, we plan to do everything on the spur of the moment. No plans. Having the freedom from retirement to run during others' working hours, we tend to be more home-bound on the weekend when everyone else is out. Places aren't so busy during the week and it is more fun.

Who knows, maybe I will finally get to scrapping again. I get it out and stare at it. NO MOJO!!!

  4. Barb - I'm sending you some mojo vibes! Can you feel 'em? LOL

Melissa - your "simple" card is anything but! You make it look so effortless. You're just a gem of a talent.

Our plans are to go about an hr's drive north of the city to Sleepy Hollow. Yes, the one and only spooky town in which Ichabod Crane became the Headless Horseman. Ooooohhh, spoooooky!!! They also have a "garden" of over 4,000 carved pumpkins up there that we will walk through followed by a bbq dinner at a friend's house overlooking the beautiful Hudson River.

    Have fun trick-o-treaters!

  9. Hi Melissa---I love your blog! You are in inspiration to me. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome card set. I have yet to try these from SU. Our weekend plans include having our godchildren over to trick or treat in our neighborhood and we always order pizza and have the pumpkin cut out cookies that they helped to decorate. Thanks again! This weekend has been busier than most. I ran errands all day yesterday, attended a mountain bike race today, and I'm waiting on the little tricksters to arrive for their treats in just minutes.

Your give-aways looks fantastic - hope I win!
